Empower • Faith • Sacraments • Community
The Archdiocese of Boston Deaf Apostolate's mission is dedicated to empowering and supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing faithful by providing full access to their faith especially to the Sacraments. Believing that, “Parish sacramental celebrations should be accessible to persons with disabilities [persons who are Deaf, or Hard of Hearing] and open to their full, active, and conscious participation…”¹ By incorporating Deaf Catholics into parish life, the entire community is enriched. This inclusion and belonging is aimed to encourage all members of Christ's body to bear fruit and share their gifts. We support and “encourage [Deaf and Hard of Hearing] to participate in all levels of pastoral ministry…”² The Deaf and Hard of Hearing faithful “are not only recipients of the Gospel, but are also called to proclaim it and to be witnesses to its truth.”³
